FAQs
E-Scooter Legal Stuf
The use of e-scooters is legal, but Switzerland is known to be quite strict in terms of road laws.
In order to be considered as a road legal electric scooter, the electric scooter must meet the following criteria, among others:
- A motor power not exceeding 500 Watts
- A maximum speed of 20 km/h
- A front and rear brake (including at least one brake acting by friction)
Anyone over the age of 16 can use an e-scooter without a permit. On the other hand, adolescents between the ages of 14 and 16 must have an M permit (for mopeds).
Wearing a helmet is not compulsory, but strongly recommended.
The happy owner of a road legal electric scooter must drive, just like a bicycle, on two axes:
- On the cycle paths. There is no speed limit, so the maximum speed on an electric scooter is 20 km / h.
- On the road. The maximum speed limit on an electric scooter is 20 km / h.
Despite the fact that the motor power should not exceed 500W, it also applies to the maximum speed that an e-scooter can reach and that’s 20km/h. If you purchase e-scooter that has 500w motor and without speed limit, than your e-scooter doesn’t comply with the Swiss road law according to the Federal Roads Office ( FEDRO).
Warranty
All new e-Scooters by Liferacer.ch have 2 years warranty. Spare parts and accessories have 6 months warranty.
The warranty will cover manufacturing faults with the scooter. This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of defective items and said repair and replacements are the sole remedies of the warranty.
Normal wear and tear are not covered by the End User Warranty. Wear and tear items include tires, brake pads and discs, brake cables, fork covers, charging port cover, grips, rattle and shaky steering column or folding mechanism, loose bolts, screws, clamps and pins, etc. The end user is responsible for checking the technical condition of the scooter before every ride and maintaining the scooter.
Any modification to the scooter will void the warranty. The warranty will also be void if you are not the original owner. The warranty is non transferrable.
Removing speed limit by our LifeRacer team doesn’t affect the warranty. The warranty stays the same.
The shipping costs to ship the product back to us and from us will not be covered.

Even if an e-scooter model is waterproof, malfunctions due to water damage are never covered in e-scooter warranties. So, when cleaning your e-scooter, always be careful not to splash water on the battery, motor, and electrical.

You can do most common repairs if you have a maintenance-friendly scooter. Typical repairs are fixing flat tires, adjusting brakes, and fixing squeaks and loose parts.

Keep in mind that meddling with the insides of the scooter will void your warranty and you may cause more harm than good. With that in mind, try to prevent problems as much as possible so that you don’t have to worry about costly repairs.
In case the index finger throttle of your scooter shows you one of the following error codes, find out here how to solve the issue:
ERROR 02 – Brake sensor
The brake error code commonly occurs when the regenerative braking switch built into your brake lever either becomes stuck or disconnected. Check the switch to make sure it is operating correctly and is not stuck. This issue is commonly accompanied by the symptom that the scooter will not accelerate when squeezing down the throttle — this is because the motor cutoff is being enabled via this switch.
Diagnostic Step
Check brake lever on handlebar and see if brake spring all the way back; Give the brake lever a few hard presses to ensure that it is not stuck. If jammed, then unclog the source of the jam.
Check brake caliper to see if the brake line is springing back to original position. Also check brake hose to see if it is jammed. If brake caliper is not springing back, spray some Wd40 to make sure it springs back to original position.
ERROR 06 – Battery under-voltage
Battery has been discharged below the acceptable voltage threshold. The cause could be the scooter has been sitting around too long and discharged below the threshold or the undervoltage threshold has been set too low. You can look up the correct undervoltage settings for your scooter in our settings database.
Diagnostic Step
Check LCD setting P03 and P15; Give battery a full charge to see if issue persist. PO3 Should be in accordance to the voltage specified in the user manual. P15 should be the specified voltage – 6V.
ERROR 07 – Motor fault
7 and 8 error codes will be triggered when there is a problem with either the hall sensor (which senses motor speed) or power connection to the motor itself.
Diagnostic Step
Unplug and plug motor connector back to see if issue persist; If problem is resolved, then make sure connector is pushed all the way.
If issue persists check motor wire and connector pins to see if there are any issues. Either replace the motor or replace motor wire
ERROR 08 – Turnstile Fault
7 and 8 error codes will be triggered when there is a problem with LCD/throttle.
Diagnostic Step
Check if back screw of magnet has come loose in the throttle/LCD. Tighten back screw or replace magnet in throttle.
ERROR 09 – Controller fault
Error 9, 10 and 11 are all related to the controller and communication. If you’re getting this immediately after powering your scooter on you might have to wait a bit for communication to be established and it should go away.
Diagnostic Step
If it persists, then make sure the QS-S4 is properly connected to the controller. If you have a plug and play style connector, check it and try disconnecting/reconnecting. If issue persists replace controller.
ERROR 10 – Communication receiving fault
Error 9, 10 and 11 are all related to the controller and communication. If you’re getting this immediately after powering your scooter on you might have to wait a bit for communication to be established and it should go away.
Diagnostic Step
If it persists, then make sure the QS-S4 is properly connected to the controller. If you have a plug and play style connector, check it and try disconnecting/reconnecting. If issue persists unplug and plug in LCD connector and see if issue persists; if issue persists, than wiggle the LCD wire in different directions to see is problem persists. Change of wiring hardness from LCD to controller if the issue persists.
ERROR 11 – Communication transmission fault
ERROR 12 – BMS comm error
This error code is related to the battery.
Diagnostic Step
Check if battery is able to charge; if battery is able to charge than check connector of battery to controller; if problem persists then a battery change might be necessary.
ERROR 13 – Headlight error
This error code is related to the LED lights on your scooter. The connection may have come loose, or the LED itself has been damaged.
Diagnostic Step
To troubleshoot, you can test the LED with multimeter set in diode test mode.
Start by cleaning the frame with a warm water and a cloth. You can also use some dish soap if the scooter is very dirty. The cloth should be moist but not soggy. Clean all the frame’s mechanical components. Change the water if it gets dirty and wipe the scooter with a dry cloth when you are done. For the wheels you can use a sponge as they will most likely be very dirty. Use a brush to clean the rear suspension. After cleaning it, use a silicone-based lubricant to grease it.
In case your scooter is not charging, please follow these steps in this very order:
- Plug the charger first into the socket and then connect it to the scooter
- The LED of the charger switches from green to red to indicate that the charging process has started. In rare cases this may take up to 60 minutes, which signals that the battery had been discharged heavily or had gone into backup mode.
In case, this procedure does not help, please get in touch with your dealer or technical support team, in case you bought from us directly.
We mainly repair electrical failures, inner tubes and tires of the brands XIAOMI, E-TWOW, VMAX, INOKIM, EGRET, DUALTRON, KAABO, VSETT. For other brands contact us before coming.

Battery
Yes you can charge your battery at any time. It is recommended to charge your battery fully at least once a month. It is also recommended to keep your battery away from temperatures below -10°C and above 45°C.
You should never let your electric scooter’s battery get completely empty. Plugging in your charger when your battery is at 30% is ideal. If you use your scooter daily, charge it every day.
When storing your scooter, please keep it in a dry place and if you are not using the scooter frequently make sure that you charge it every 3 months for 30 mins.
If you take proper care of the battery – please check the scooter’s manual for instructions – it will last for more than 800 – 2000 charging cycles. And in case your scooter needs a new battery, get in touch with our service team via the service form.
Weather Conditions
It is not recommended to ride electric scooters in the rain or any other type of wet environment. No matter how water-resistant your scooter is, avoid riding in the rain and through bodies of water. That said, most scooters will not be damaged by light contact with water.
Feel free, but the snow, ice, puddles of water, mud, and slippery surfaces can make the rides unsafe and damaging to you and your scooter.
About half the electric scooter models today come with some IP rating, which means they are certified for at least some level of water-resistance. The scooters without an IP rating are probably very sensitive to water.
Water-resistant and waterproof scooters can be a real need depending on the place where you live.
Yes, VSETT vehicles follow the norm IP54, which means that they are designed to resist dust and water. It does not mean that they are waterproof so you should not drive under heavy rain or in the water. We therefor recommend using protective housing or foam or silicon, for extra protection against water splashes.
Only the following airlines allow electric scooters on-board: Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, S7, Lion Air, Air India, Vietnam Airlines. All other airlines prohibit bringing your electric scooter. Your scooter will not be allowed if the battery exceeds 160 Wh, and in most cases, you will need special permission if the battery exceeds 100 Wh.
