One of the best thing about electric scooters is for sure requiring low maintanence. However, there are a few things that will help keep your scooter  running smoothly. We will talk about maintaing you electric scooter, and focus on two most important elements that keep electric scooter going – battery and everything else.

Battery maintenance

The battery of your electric scooter is a crucial component that determines its performance. Our electric scooters come equipped with lithium-ion batteries, which are not only high-performing, but also lightweight and much smaller in size compared to traditional lead-acid batteries. With the latest advancements in battery technology, modern lithium-ion batteries offer superior efficiency and long-lasting power, making them the ideal choice for electric scooters.

While batteries have greatly improved, they still have a limited lifespan. When you start noticing a decreased ability to hold a charge, it’s a sign that your battery is approaching the end of its life. However, there are several steps you can take to maximize the lifespan of your electric scooter battery:

Prolong the battery life

Firstly, avoid fully depleting the battery charge and instead keep it topped up to around 90% capacity. Overcharging can also be a problem, so be careful not to exceed the recommended charging time. Secondly, research your electric scooter’s manual to know for instructions. By following these simple tips, you can help prolong the life of your electric scooter’s battery and ensure that it continues to provide reliable power for as long as possible.
Li-ion batteries typically have a lifespan of 800-2000 charge cycles, which involves charging the battery from 0% to 100% and back to 0%. However, keeping the battery topped up at around 90% capacity can help reduce the number of full cycles and prolong its lifespan.

Daily operating temperature of your electric scooter can also affect the battery’s health. Operating the scooter in extreme temperatures outside of the manufacturer’s recommended specifications can have an adverse effect on the battery’s performance and longevity.

To ensure the best performance and longevity of your electric scooter’s battery, we highly recommend using only the official charger that was supplied with your scooter. Electric scooters have different battery sizes and types, so using chargers or electric starters from other scooters or older chargers can result in overcharging, undercharging, or improper charging. This can cause lasting damage to your e-scooter or even prevent it from starting at all..

Everything else

Apart from the battery, most of the components in an electric scooter consist of moving parts that are prone to wear and tear over time. These moving parts include wheels and tires, brake pads and handles, and folding joints.

To ensure the safety and longevity of your electric scooter, it’s important to perform some key check-ups before each ride and after covering a certain distance:

Before Every Ride:

  • Check tyre pressure
  • Check that wheels and handlebars turn smoothly
  • Look for any loosened screws, bolts and fasteners
  • Check lights and indicators
